GHANA GOLD EXPO 2020

A 3-day event named Ghana Gold Expo 2020 to showcase Ghana’s source of gold and to introduce best practices in processes to ensure safe environment in operations was held from Sunday 8th March, 2020 to Tuesday 10th March, 2020 at the Best Western Plus Atlantic Hotel, Takoradi.

The aim of the Expo was to find most conducive ways of handling mining approaches that would bring safety and non-hazardous situations to natural resources used in realising the product. Speakers touched on the available equipment that would make Gold processing less hazardous to both human and animal. Much more benefit goes to the Small-Scale Miners at whose doorsteps safety of the industry rest by being given the exposure to be informed of how hazardous MERCURY is to the environment of their operations and the country at large.

His Excellency, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo who was represented by the Minister of Lands, Honourable Kwaku Asomah-Cheremeh delivered the Key Note Address for the Maiden Edition of the Ghana Gold Expo 2020 on the theme ‘PROMOTING ZERO MERCURY’.

Highlight speakers for the expo included the Western Regional Minister, Honourable Dr. Okyere Darko-Mensah, Chief Executive Officer of Aurum Monaco, Mr. Selim Fendi, Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of Euroget Group, Dr. Said Deraz, , Dr. Christiana O. Hood, Phycisist, University Of Cape Coast – Ghana,  Snowdens Regional Manager for Africa, Mr. Bill Mckechnie, Director General of Ghana Standards Authority, Prof. Alex Dodoo. Also present were Global Operations Gold Recovery Ghana Ltd, represented by Mr. Hansie Van Vreden, Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Chamber of Mines, Mr. Sulemanu Konney and the Chief Executive Officer of Goldfields Ghana Ltd, Mr. Alfred Baka, among others. Nana Tetreteh was the Chairman for the occasion.

The Group CEO, Hon. Eric Kodi Kodi and the Senior Marketing Executive, Mr. Emmanuel Attoh represented M&C Group (Global) at the maiden edition of Ghana Gold Expo 2020 which hosted quiet a number of exhibitors including the Chamber of Ghana Bullion Traders, an Association for Gold Exporters, Small-Scale Miners, Agents, Jewellers, Mining Agents and all those in the value chain.

About 500 attendees including government officials and stakeholders in the entire gold mining value chain showed up at the event. Representatives of other interests in the gold Industry also graced the occasion with their presence.
